Full Time

MJD Interactive, a multi-time San Diego Business Journal “Best Places to Work” winner, is looking for a seasoned, rock-solid Senior Project Manager to join our happy family.

Who We Are

We’re a small-yet-mighty agency that develops digital experiences for awesome clients. We seek engagements that help people make meaningful connections with each other and the world around them. How? Innovative web and native mobile technology solutions. We look to infuse soul and meaning into everything we introduce into the world. We’ve been able to win amazing clients with knowledge and imagination, and keep them with excellent service.

In short: we make amazing stuff, usually from scratch, for a good reason.

Our ultracasual, dog-friendly office is 3 blocks from the beach, surrounded by great lunch eateries and happy hour spots.

Who You Are

You’re a Project Manager who’s been around the block. You’ve managed very large engagements involving very complex systems in (sometimes) high-pressure environments. You demonstrate good judgement, communicate effectively, thoroughly understand and manage project scope, and proactively manage the team and the client. You could talk ad nauseum about the virtues of different methodologies, based on direct experience. You’ve made some mistakes, and have learned a lot from them. You look for opportunities to increase your knowledge. You’ve excelled in agencies (or better yet, consultancies like accenturedeloittemckinseywhoever). You always think through your engagements, and look to stay two steps ahead. You’re a music person, an art person, a book person, a nature person, an explorer person. You put the “fun” in “cross-functional”.

Note: this is not a Marketing position; media buys and campaign coordination is great and all, but it’s not what we do here.

  • Mandatory BA/BS and 5+ years of solid experience in interactive project management.
  • Deep knowledge and experience executing Scrum or similar Agile SDLC methodologies in an agency/services setting.
  • Excellent verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate, support and understand different project teams.
  • An iguana named Dan. This is here to see if you demonstrate attention to detail.
  • A strong understanding of associated web and mobile development technologies. Please be prepared to talk about your experience managing projects that use the following technologies:
    • Native mobile (iOS, Android)
    • HTML/CSS/JavaScript
    • RESTful Services
  • Competency with MS Office, Pivotal Tracker, Basecamp, bug tracking, and other related project management and communications tools is required.
  • Deep understanding and awareness of product development and experience tying product goals to business goals.
  • CSM, PMP and other project management certifications are a plus.
